 Exclusion procedure for Illness & Contagious Diseases

Disease/Illness

Antibiotics prescribed

First 24 hours at home

Chicken Pox

7 days from appearance of the rash

Conjunctivitis

Exclude until discharge from the eyes has stopped

Diarrhoea

Child must be well for 48 hours before returning to Pre-School

Gastroenteritis (Food Poising)/ Salmonellosis

Child must be well for 48 hours before returning to Pre-School

Head Lice

Until appropriate treatment has been given

Infective Hepatitis

7 days from onset of jaundice

Hand, Foot & Mouth

7-10 days from onset until free from infection

Impetigo

Until the skin in healed

Measles

7 days from appearance of rash

Meningococcal infection

Until fully recovered from illness

Mumps

7 days from onset of illness

Poliomyelitis

Until free from infection

Ringworm

Until free from infection

Scabies

Until appropriate treatment has been given

Scarlet Fever & Streptococcal infection of the throat

Until appropriate treatment has been given

Swine Flu

At least 7 days from onset of illness and following current Official Public Health guidelines

Tuberculosis

Until free from infection

Typhoid fever

Until free from infection

Vomiting

Child must be well for 48 hours before returning to Pre-School

Whopping Cough

21 days from onset of illness
